Read on for answers to all of the burning questions we asked her along the way…

Where are you from originally and where are you located now?
I’m originally from a small town in Southeast Missouri and moved to the Chicagoland area in 1990. I’ve been there ever since!

Tell us about Hallway of Fashion, what made you decide to start this website and blog?
I was chatting with some different people and thought about what I might want to do in the future after I retire. I listened to some podcasts around how a website is even better than having Instagram or Facebook so I thought why not!! Right now I’m writing a blog and sharing little tidbits on what I think people might want to know about. It’s also a great way to meet new people!
How would you describe your style?
This is a hard one, I’m very eclectic in what I like. I don’t tend to stay with one style all the time. If I like something I might try it out! I like to mix it up!
How did you find your style?
I always like dressing up but I feel I’ve really grown more into my style in the past 10 years. I’ve always loved vintage clothes but also finding second hand pieces at consignment stores, flea markets, antique stores, etc. I love mixing the eras, mixing the high and low, hard and soft, luxe and everyday.

What (or who) are your biggest style inspirations?
I loved watching movies growing up and seeing the different styles “Sabrina”, “How to Marry a Millionaire”, “My Fair Lady” and “A Perfect Murder” . The dress I’ve always wanted is Rosemary Clooney’s black velvet gown from “White Christmas”. I love Tilda Swinton and Cate Blanchett’s choices. Now I see so many incredible people on Instagram who inspire me: @thechiccitygirl, @mystyleismybrand, @stylethechange, @carla.rockmore and many more!
Quick! You’ve got 10 minutes to get dressed for a day of touristing around in Paris, what are you throwing on?
I’m going to definitely throw on a pair of jeans with my waterproof shoes! I’ll probably wear a nice black t-shirt and either a cardigan or blazer. I like to be stylish yet comfortable. I always have my leather crossbody when I travel. It’s an essential!!

What are 5 things every person needs to have in their closet?
1. Great denim jacket!! It’s my go to for getting out the door!
2. Jeans (whatever style suits you!! No, you don’t have to get rid of your skinny jeans!)
3. A Blazer . You can dress up or dress down!! So versatile!
4. Trench coat: layers are key even in warmer climates and trench coats can be all sorts of fabric and weights! They look good on everyone!
5. Something that makes you feel your best! There is nothing better than wearing a piece or outfit that makes you feel special! It’s the ultimate confidence boost!
What does the future look like for Hallway of Fashion?
That’s a great question. In addition to my personal blogs, I want to interview different vendors and small business owners. I love promoting small businesses (and how I got started on Instagram) because of growing up in a small town and seeing how hard it is to compete with big box businesses. I just want to see where it organically takes me!
