The Magic of Mother-Daughter Photoshoots on Pont Bir Hakeim, Paris

We love taking portraits of all kinds of people in all kinds of relationships but there’s something truly special about photographing the bond between a mother and her daughters. Recently, our photographer Nicolas had the opportunity to photograph a mother and her two daughters on the iconic Pont Bir Hakeim in Paris and it was a truly stunning session. The amazing architecture paired with the intimate connection between the family made for THE most beautiful photos — ones that we hope will inspire more mothers and daughters to immortalize their trips to Paris (and their bond!) in a similar way.

The Perfect Setting: Pont Bir Hakeim

Pont Bir Hakeim is one of our favorite spots in Paris for photoshoots, and it’s easy to see why. The bridge, with its iron arches and stunning views of the Eiffel Tower, is the perfect mix of architecture and beauty. It’s also perfectly situated for multiple backgrounds, you can have the Eiffel Tower, the bridge, the river and more. For this shoot, Nicolas knew the location would be the perfect backdrop for this gorgeous mother and her daughters.

On the day of this shoot, Paris had the prettiest light with the occasional sun burst filtering through the clouds, giving a gorgeous golden glow on the Seine and the Eiffel Tower in the distance.

What to wear for this shoot? Mom and daughters wore coordinating outfits in navy and white and they all looked fantastic together. The navy and white particularly complimented the tones of the bridge, sky, sun and water. The final fantastic detail? Some cute hats! Nicolas got a few gorgeous pictures in the hats before one accidentally blew off into the wind and got lost in the Seine. Oops! Things like this ultimately become funny stories we tell whenever we look back at our photos

Capturing the Bond

Nicolas started the shoot with some group shots on the bridge that runs along the outside of Bir Hakeim, allowing the three ladies to get comfortable in front of the camera as they walked along the bridge with the Eiffel Tower in the background.

We took a few portraits of the sisters together, a must-do when you’re doing family photos, and the relationship between these two girls is so sweet, you can tell how close they are. After a few gorgeous group shots, Nicolas guided our subjects to individual poses with the bridge’s fantastic architectural posts, that you may recognize from Inception!

While we love capturing candid moments, posed portraits can be equally powerful, especially when they are relaxed and not overly staged. Getting comfortable in front of the camera is easy with Nicolas behind the lens telling you how to pose! The result? Natural and casual photos that show off these ladies’ true beauty. We love capturing real smiles and real emotions and these women were no exception.

From the bridge, we walked to another favorite photoshoot spot of ours, Avenue de Camoëns. This picturesque little street is just a short walk from the bridge and is so beautiful, it’s worth a stop by if you’re in the area. The Eiffel Tower is perfectly framed in the background, the light is balanced and gorgeous and the surrounding architecture make the perfect frame every time.
